Reflections from the Board of Education

In the last week, a historic time in our history began - the First National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  School District 8, Kootenay Lake was honoured to acknowledge the first National Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30th, 2021.  For our community of educators, leaders, and staff it was a day to create space to reflect deeply on the history of Indigenous Canada and the lands we are honoured to work, live and play on. Honourable Murray Sinclair shared with our district last week that the path to reconciliation is one created through relationships.  It is our hope that through our shared learning and growing of relationships, together we can take stronger and wiser steps toward reconciliation.  The day brings hope for the work we need to do personally and collectively moving forward.
